SBS is a highly effective tool that allows smaller businesses to manage multiple server applications from a single computer.

SBS acts both as a file server and a domain controller, managing network security and access: set up a new user in the active directory, and set up a network user and password and assign them specific access groups.

If desired, you can set up an exchange mailbox and various other permissions, such as remote logins, print servers, exchange server, etc.

But while SBS is undoubtedly a great tool for capital cost management, it means that your entire business is based on the integrity of a single server, AND a single point of risk!

To counter this risk, we strongly recommend backing up the data from your Small Business Server, together with a full system backup. In the event of disaster, where the server is stolen or destroyed you can purchase a new computer. Then restore the system image onto the new computer and finally add all the backed up data.
